Set the questions your check-in asks
The questions are the heart of a check-in: they decide what your team reports and what shows up in the summary. This guide covers how to choose good questions and where to edit them.
Before you begin
- You need Team Manager or Organization Admin permissions to create or edit a check-in.
- If you are still setting up your very first check-in, start with Create your first check-in and come back here to refine the questions.
Start from a template or from scratch
When you create a check-in you can either write your own questions or click Use a template to preload a proven set you can edit.
- A classic daily standup uses three questions: What did you work on yesterday?, What are you working on today?, and Any blockers?
- A retrospective or weekly review might ask about wins, risks, and what to improve.
Templates are the fastest way to start; you can rename, remove, or reword any question afterward.
Add or edit questions
- Sign in at app.dailybot.com and open Check-ins.
- Open the check-in you want to change (or click Create check-in).
- Find the Questions section.
- Type a new question, or edit an existing one inline.
- Reorder questions by dragging them into the sequence people should answer.
- Click Save.
Tips for good questions
- Keep it short. Three to four questions is enough for a daily check-in; long forms get skipped.
- Ask one thing per question. Split “What did you do and what’s blocking you?” into two.
- Mark blockers. A dedicated blocker question lets Dailybot highlight and route blockers automatically. See Blocker questions.
- Use question types on purpose. Text, multiple choice, and rating questions all report differently in the summary.
