Creating your first check-in

Creating your first check-in

Use this flow when you are setting up a new check-in from scratch. You can start from a template later; this path assumes you want full control from step one.

Before you begin

  • You need Team Manager or Organization Admin permissions in Dailybot.
  • Dailybot must be installed on your chat workspace and members you add must be able to receive DMs from the bot.

Steps

  1. Sign in at app.dailybot.com.
  2. Open Check-ins in the sidebar.
  3. Click Create (or Create check-in).
  4. Enter a name participants will recognize (e.g., “Engineering daily standup”).
  5. Add questions — type prompts or use Use a template to preload a set you can edit.
  6. Under Participants, choose users, teams, or groups who should receive this check-in.
  7. Set the schedule: frequency, days, send time, and timezone for the check-in.
  8. Choose the report destination channel (or equivalent) where compiled reports should post.
  9. Review notifications and optional settings (e.g., reminders, work days) if shown.
  10. Click Save to activate the check-in.

What to expect after

Dailybot messages each participant on scheduled days. Replies in DM are stored and rolled into the report for the destination you picked. You can open the check-in in the web app anytime to see status, who has answered, and full history.

If something does not post to the channel, confirm the bot is in that channel and that your platform allows Dailybot to post there. See Choosing where check-in reports are posted if you need to change the destination.
