Setting up Dailybot on Slack

Setting up Dailybot on Slack

Connect Dailybot to a Slack workspace so members can use check-ins, kudos, and other features where they already work.

Before you begin

  • You need permission to install apps in the Slack workspace (workspace admin or someone who can approve OAuth installs for the workspace).
  • Use a browser where you can sign in to the correct Slack workspace if you belong to several.

Steps

  1. Open dailybot.com in a browser.
  2. Choose the option to add or connect Dailybot to Slack (for example Add to Slack or the Slack entry point on the product or signup flow).
  3. Start the Slack OAuth flow when prompted.
  4. Select the Slack workspace where Dailybot should be installed.
  5. Review the permission list Slack shows for Dailybot.
  6. Click Allow (or the equivalent) to authorize the app for that workspace.
  7. Wait for the flow to finish and return you to Dailybot (or your confirmation screen).
  8. In Slack, open the workspace app list or search and confirm Dailybot appears under Apps.
  9. Open a direct message with Dailybot or use the app home to confirm the bot responds.

What to expect after

Dailybot is installed for the workspace. It shows up in Apps, members can DM it, and you can finish organization setup in the Dailybot web app at app.dailybot.com. Channel features depend on later configuration and which channels you add the bot to. If something fails at the OAuth step, retry after confirming you picked the intended workspace.
