I can’t edit or delete my kudos
You want to fix a typo, remove sensitive text, or undo a mistaken shout-out, but Dailybot or the chat platform blocks edits and deletes. Kudos messages cross product rules and platform capabilities: short edit windows, immutable chat messages, and admin-only moderation together decide what you can change after send.
Quick check
- Time window — Try immediately after sending; many flows allow only a brief edit period.
- Platform — Discord, Slack, and Teams differ on whether users can edit bot-posted messages or only their own.
- Owner vs participant — Confirm you are the author of the kudos in Dailybot’s records, not only the person tagged.
- Admin tools — Org admins may have moderation actions you do not see as a member.
- Thread vs root — Editing might apply to the card in Dailybot web UI even when the chat copy is locked.
Common causes and fixes
Edit window expired
Dailybot may lock kudos after a few minutes to prevent gaming leaderboards or rewriting history. If you still need a correction, post a clarifying follow-up in thread or send a replacement kudos with accurate text. For harmful content, escalate quickly using the moderation path below.
Platform doesn’t support edit
Slack users can sometimes edit their own messages but not messages authored by apps. If Dailybot posted the final card as the bot user, your Slack edit menu will not apply. Use Dailybot’s web or dashboard UI if it offers a delete or retract action for recent items. Otherwise ask an admin to remove the chat message through native moderation tools if policy allows.
Admin-only deletion
To prevent harassment reversals from hiding evidence, some orgs restrict deletion to admins. Contact an org admin or HR partner per your code of conduct. Provide message links and rationale. Admins should document removals for compliance.
Discord-specific interaction limits
Discord interactions and follow-up messages have stricter edit policies than Slack. If buttons gray out, the interaction token expired. See Slash commands aren’t working in Discord when the failure is broader than kudos alone.
Wrong message targeted
Users sometimes try to edit the notification DM instead of the canonical kudos record. Open the kudos history in Dailybot web app to see whether the text is editable there.
If none of this worked
Before contacting support, gather:
- Platform (Slack, Discord, Google Chat, Teams) and channel type
- Approximate send time and whether you are the author
- Link or message ID if your platform exposes it
- Why removal is needed (typo vs sensitive content)
- Whether an admin already attempted deletion
- Steps you already tried from this article
Sensitive cases: involve your internal HR or security team in parallel with Dailybot support.
Then contact Dailybot support from the Help or Contact options in the product or on the website.
