Editing my check-in is deleting my blockers
You edit an answer in your check-in and afterward your blockers no longer show as blocked, or escalation stops treating them as blockers. This matches a known behavior: editing a response can clear blocker flags that were inferred or set on the previous version.
Quick check
- Avoid small edits right after submitting — If you must change text, re-mark blockers explicitly after saving (see workarounds below).
- Use a single submission when possible — Finish blocker wording before you submit the first time.
- Confirm in the UI — After editing, open the check-in summary and verify whether blockers still appear.
- Notify your lead if visibility dropped — If managers rely on blocker alerts, tell them the edit was intentional and whether you are still blocked.
- Watch release notes — We treat this as a product issue; fixes may ship without a separate email.
Common causes and fixes
Known issue: editing removes blocker flags
In some flows, the check-in editor saves a new version of your response without carrying over structured blocker metadata from the prior version. From your perspective it looks like “editing deleted my blockers,” even though your text may still mention a problem. The system is re-processing the response as a fresh edit.
Workaround: After you edit, if your template has explicit blocker fields or a “mark as blocked” control, set those again. If you only have free text, add a short clear phrase your team recognizes (for example, “Still blocked on X”) and tell your manager in thread so nothing falls through.
Template or workflow changes mid-week
If an admin changes questions or AI blocker detection rules while you edit, the combination can look like blockers vanished. Compare your answers to the current template. Re-submit or add blockers using the current question set.
Multiple devices or drafts
Starting an edit on mobile and finishing on desktop (or vice versa) can occasionally save an older state. Before editing, refresh the page and work from one device through save.
If none of this worked
Tell support:
- Check-in name and approximate time you edited
- Whether blockers disappeared from your view only or from the manager dashboard
- Screenshots before and after if available
